Barnes & Jones Steam Traps and Steam Trap Repair Parts

Thermostatic *  Float & Thermostatic  *  Inverted Bucket
The days of cheap energy are over, and there is strong likelihood that fuel costs will continue to escalate. It is imperative that a steam system be regularly monitored for loss. When steam traps are neglected and left to operate improperly, they can, over time, cause the failure of other traps and components within the system.

As you probably know, there are many benefits for a facility with the foresight and wisdom to initiate a steam trap survey and repair program. If you need any further assistance in designing a steam trap repair program you can contact Cici Boiler Rooms. Cici stocks one of the largest steam trap inventories in the Midwest.

Thermostatic Steam Traps

Balanced pressure thermostatic steam traps are devices that sense the temperature difference between condensate and saturated steam. These traps remain closed until the condensate collecting in the trap subcools enough to actuate the valve. The amount of subcooling varies among designs, and is tailored to various applications ranging from biotechnology processing to apartment steam radiators. Because these traps respond to temperature, they have excellent air venting characteristics. Applications with quick or frequent start-ups perform best using balanced pressure thermostatic traps.

Float & Thermostatic Steam Traps

Float and thermostatic steam traps are commonly used on process applications where they function to drain condensate from a heat exchanger. These types of traps respond quickly to changing loads, and they have a quiet, modulating action. Rising water level inside the trap causes the float to rise. This pulls the valve plug away from the seat, opening the valve. After the condensate has been drained away, the float falls and valve plug is guided into the seat to close the valve. An integral thermostat functions to vent air and other non-condensable gases from the system.

Inverted Bucket Steam Traps

Inverted bucket steam traps utilize an open, inverted, bucket as a type of float. Steam fills the inverted bucket which causes it to float and close the valve. Condensate collecting under the bucket reduces its buoyant force and the bucket falls, pulling the valve open. These traps find use in a wide variety of applications. Small traps are used on steam drip and product tracing applications. Large traps are used in some process applications. These traps feature a rugged, simple design. Hardened internals ensure long life and reliable service.

Steam Trap Cage Units

SPECIAL PRICING!
The Cage Unit compromises all working parts of a thermostatic steam trap including the seat. All parts are calibrated together under actual steam conditions at our factory and are locked into the precisely correct working relationship within a stainless steel housing. This is a one piece, stand alone, fully removable and testable “trap within a trap”. There are no loose parts to contend with; gone is the potential of over tightening, under tightening, cross threading or misaligning assorted pieces of a “repair kit”.
